Artist Statement

My work continues to respond to the insecurity and crisis we see worldwide centering on conflicts between powers over land and resources, as pitting one culture against another. While we all strive for the same qualities in our lives (wherever we live, our religion or cultural beliefs) powerful interests work against our desires for a safe environment, clean air and water, an embracing landscape to call our own.

Work featured in the exhibition, Blessed Unrest returns to landscape and the concept of ‘home’. Contrasting images of still moments, of special places with those affected by any of the forces that can threaten and challenge, we look at the constancy of their coexistence. The work is created through the many layers of drawing, painting, wax and collage, through building and deconstructing, through research and observation to arrive at each image’s particular destination.
